Meet #3: Kings Charter Tidal Waves @ Goochland YMCA Information

The Kings Charter Tidal Waves will face the Goochland YMCA Manta Rays for our third swim meet of the regular season on Tuesday, June 18th. The meet will start at 6:00pm and families can enter the pool deck no earlier than 4:30pm. The make-up date is Thursday, June 20th.

Location: 1800 Dickinson Road, Goochland Va 23063

Attendance: Please remember to declare for the meet by indicating if your swimmer will attend. You should have already received an email that the meet is accepting entries. You can indicate your attendance by clicking “attending” or “not attending” for the Meet on the “View Meets” tab in the Parent Portal.

Parking: Park in the grass area behind the facility. The entrance to the grass area is off Dickinson Road. Signs will be up for help. Since the facility is open, we ask that you keep the parking lot open for YMCA patrons.

Seating: Seating for the away team is located on the pool deck surrounding the shallow area. Please bring your own chairs and blankets. It is very sunny in this area with limited umbrellas at the start of the meet.

Check‐In: Check in will begin at 4:45 and will take place under the breezeway.

Warm-ups: Away team will warm up from 5:25-5:50. Goochland’s warm-ups will be from 5:00-5:25.

Clerk of the Course: The Clerk of Course is located behind the fence near the starting blocks. Please have your swimmers walk along the outside of the fence near lane 1 to get to clerk.

Weather: In the event of inclement weather we may have to exit the pool deck until conditions improve. Lifeguards are trained on and responsible for making a determination when the pool and the pool deck must be closed, prioritizing the safety of all present. If the deck is closed, please support the life guards and help clear the facility promptly. If we have to clear the deck due to the weather, you may wait in your cars. Please ensure you have signed up for Remind to get weather updates. Instructions can be found on our website under the Documents Tab.

If you have signed up to volunteer at this meet, please double check which position you are working in your Parent Portal

Start Times:

5:30pm First Half shifts will work from event #1 until event #27

8:00pm (approx.) Second Half shifts will work from event #28 until the end of meet

Check-In:

All volunteers must check-in with Marianne and Jason before 5:30pm, where the swimmers check-in with the coaches. If you are a second half volunteer and unable to check in by 5:30pm, please email kctidalwaves@gmail.com at least 2 hours ahead of time so we will know when to expect you to check-in.

Substitutes:

If you can no longer work the shift you signed up for, you are responsible for finding a substitute. Please reach out to other swim families for help, and notify us of the change at kctidalwaves@gmail.com.

Theme: The theme for this week is “Going Gold” for Childhood Cancer Awareness. Our very own Tidal Wave, James Conway, has been battling Leukemia for the past 3.5 years and will undergo his LAST treatment this Tuesday. Please join us in celebrating him and all those affected by wearing GOLD!
